Soft washing in Brisbane, done properly
Soft washing uses low pressure, about the force of a garden hose, to apply a cleaning solution to a surface, let it work, and rinse it off. The chemistry does the cleaning, not the force. The solution kills the mould, algae, lichen and moss that make a Brisbane home look tired, and because it kills the growth at the root rather than scraping the top off, the surface stays cleaner for far longer than a pressure clean ever could.
It is the right method for almost everything above the ground: painted walls, render, weatherboard, fibre cement, brick and mortar, Colorbond, eaves, gutters, fascias, tiled and metal roofs, pergolas, fences and timber screens. High pressure on any of those strips paint, pits mortar, forces water under laps and shortens the life of a roof. The right dilution for each surface
One strength does not suit everything. Render, painted timber and a tiled roof each get the solution mixed for that material, applied at low pressure, left to work, then rinsed from the top down. The garden is rinsed before, during and after, tarps go where they are needed, and we ask that pets stay indoors while we are working. Once the service is finished, everything is safe.
Good to know
- Soft washing removes organic growth and surface grime. It will not fix paint that is already flaking or chalking, oxidation, rust, paint overspray, efflorescence or calcium deposits, which need specialised restoration.
- It is the safest exterior cleaning method there is, but no method is without risk on aged or damaged surfaces. We tell you before we start if we see any.
- Hard, flat, unpainted surfaces (driveways, paths, pavers, pool surrounds) are pressure cleaned instead, with a pre-treatment and a surface cleaner. See pressure washing.
